Wow, I can’t believe it’s been an year! I wrote this following poem last October but never got around to sharing it. So I thought it’s only appropriate now that another October is here, to post this as an Ode to this month of dying beauty. It’s also a testament to how far I’ve come as a writer and most importantly feeling comfortable enough to share my work with the world. It brings back all kind of nostalgia to think I couldn’t share this last year but now I’m ready to own my writings and the writer in me. So without further due here it is.

October is here and September is gone,
while November is soon to come.
The days turn to nights and nights into days,
While I wait for your return.
Standing on the threshold of our dreams,
I stand gazing upon the autumn trees.
The crisp air swooshes by me,
And leaves filled with color fall upon my feet.
I melt into the October sky,
I reflect how so many months have since passed by,
while I wait with my tears all dried,
And coffee turned cold.
The morning sun peeks through the autumn trees,
Solemn air mourns and weeps.
I need your warmth to save me,
From the cold dark nights that are soon to embrace me.
October is here, but not you.
Not yet.
Maybe November, maybe December.
Or maybe in January February.
Someday you will return,
Whether it’s March, April, June or July.
I will wait for you forever,
Even through August and September.
And then October will come again,
Bringing back memories of the day you left.
Leaving behind a flesh of heaving weeping mess,
Stranded on the doorway tracing your footsteps.
October is here again, but not you.
Not yet.
( Nostalgia )
Beautiful words Zee. Thank you for sharing your superb work. I love the feeling of ‘melting into the October sky’. What a perfect start to the weekend. All good wishes.

Somehow … that is me for most of my life. π Funny, when I was in Greece I didn’t want Summer to be over. But now here in Japan, I can’t wait for the fall, and put on some layers or wrap myself with a thick blanket. Most of all, I want to see that fall colors. π
Own the writer in you? You’ve been over the top since!

You have captured the flow of your thoughts so well. A tribute to the passage of time as well as looking back on the wait. There is something mystical about this month, perhaps talks about fresh endings and new beginnings?

Hello Zee.. October can be a very inspiring
month in perspective or what usually comes
as truly six months of Summer here with
an overall two season year instead
of a four season one..
and we just had
our first
small
cool front
breeze to come through..
bringing temperatures down to
60F degrees where even my energy
level of dancing went way up.. as people
with really big heads like me who have ancestors
in snowy northern latitude lands.. have difficulty dissipating
heat as those big heads are evolved to retain heat in deepest of snow..
And life truly is like a Snow Globe
my Friend.. shake it up
and the Dance of
Summer comes
like a big bang
to the last
flake of
Winter
rest and
it starts aGain whomever
or whatever A prime mover noW
iS that invites the dance of Life again..
and so it is with each Massive Sun that is
one giant seed that in the crucible of that Sun
when it explodes like a ‘mini-big-bang’.. too.. spreads
the elements of life in a cloud to new solar systems.. planets
spiraling and potentially life.. very much like ours to be
reborn out of the Seed that IS A Sun.. a Star..
WeLL thats wHeRe we come from.. A
Sun.. A Star
we are
as now as
sentient
star
dust..
incarnate as
from greatest
calamities come A
greatest Love my friend.. that can be wE aLL..
the fAct that We can act.. and produce.. imagine..
and direct we sentient star dust to create something
entirely new.. like a Wonderful photo of leaf with veins
of blood and water droplets of tears that make life grow..
is truly something else my friend as your star of creativity
explodes
a little
bit each
day.. now..
and explodes
again.. as seeds we are..
of
LiFE..
inspiRinG now.. more
liFe to gRow toward Ocean..
LoVe liGht oF LiFe.. mY Friend Zee..:)

Hi Fred,
We have long summers here too, but thankfully we have all 4 seasons. Even if they aren’t as long as summers. I for one, can’t wait for winters. Autumn is slowly transitioning into winters finally. It has been long harsh summers for us this time around. So I’m so excited for things to cool down! Hope you enjoy the chilly weather as well. Have a great weekend !

Ah good luck with school, it’s actually kind of crazy because I’ve been maturing faster than ever before now that I’m in university. I mean I’m not like a full-blown adult but I’m somewhere in between an eight year old trapped in a teenage body/adult.

Haha totally relatable. This is the transitioning period that is so confusing and drastically changing. But I guess this is part of life, that’s how we mature and grow as a person by going through all of these experiences π

Hi Erika thank you so much for your constant support and love. It’s having lovely friends like you around that has made me comfortable enough to share my writings with the world. It is interesting what you said. I feel the same. That change in nature, in the light, the temperature, this slow saying goodbye to the year…. yes, this leaves kind of melancholy. But it is not something that saddens me but just more appreciateve. It seems to show me the value of life even more π

I don’t think melancholy is bad, it makes you more reflective of things and as you said “appreciative” as well. Every season has its inspiration and so does beautiful autumn π

I’m glad you no longer hide your words from the world. Let that writer in you out! Own her. And I’m glad you brought this back out (though it is still a few hours from October here). It’s a lovely poem. I love October, but in ways it is a very melancholy month, isn’t it? And you capture that, particularity as you wait another year and it is October once again and your lover is still not there.

Yes something about autumn that brings out the melancholic aura…can’t help but get inspired ! I’ve never felt so free now that I share my writings much more than I used to do before. There are obviously still some insecurities that make me hold back from sharing a lot of my other work but I guess taking it one step at a time works ! And I couldn’t be more thankful for the community I have here and the friends I have made who are so supportive. That gave a confidence boast as wellππ
