Accepting Love

Weekly Photo Challenge: Gathering

Kittens.jpg

You have to accept the love you get, not more not less. You have to understand that people give you love they are capable of. You can’t expect more from them.

Not only To keep yourself from getting hurt but to be fair to them too. They give what they are capable of, take it with open arms and appreciate it. Path to expectation, especially love, is a destructive road. You only end up hurting yourself while most of the time the other person is oblivious to it. You have to understand people love the way they can, the only ways they know they can. The day you learn to accept and be happy with whatever amount of love you get, is the day you will be freed.

I’m not saying to settle for less than you think you deserve, Not at all. Never settle for less, especially when it comes to love. All I’m saying is life will be a tad bit easier if you accept whatever amount of love people give you in return to yours. At least they are giving you something. At least they are trying, It’s something. Something is better than nothing. Especially when it comes to love.

Love is the exception to everything, all the rules, all the philosophies, all the rights, all the wrongs. Love is…whatever you make of it.

Zee ❤ this was so beautiful to read. Thank you for articulating this; I needed to read this because I'm facing similar struggles of placing unrealistic expectations on loved-ones… and taking it personally when these aren't reached, as if they are an indicator of my self-worth. I once heard a quote that resonated has since resonated with me. It went something along the lines of–
do not underestimate the love you receive, or overestimate the love you give.
Very profound. It took a whole new meaning reading this ❤

Hi Ramisa, The quote you shared is an eye opener. certainly puts your idea of love in perspective. Thank you so much for reading my thoughts and I’m so glad that you were able to relate with it and it helped you somehow. I think it’s human nature to place expectations but as long as we don’t let it govern us, don’t be too hard on yourself.

Cheers to a new year with acceptance and understanding! Lots of love to you ❤

Zee! I’ve been away for a while, but I checked in today and read this post.. What you’ve said about love is so true.. It’s difficult, because one is always warring with the ideal of undermining one’s self – minimizing one’s self-worth so to speak- in the pursuit of this emotion. But i agree that people give love according to their capacity to love. There is no yardstick to measure it. Just accept it and thrive on it. 🙂
    Have a wonderful new year!
    xx, M

adorable kittens. those who can’t shower love on them are blind. 🙂

anyway, love will always be a mystery to many. we should gladly take what it’s freely given. to demand more leads to disappointment. at the same time, i remember what thomas merton once said, “love can be kept only by being given away.”

Oh that is so beautifully said Plaridel. Loved the quote you shared. I do feel that when I started to stop expecting ‘more’ love from people and just gave away without expecting ‘more’ in return, I did started to feel more in comfort and being happy with myself. so it must be true! 🙂

This is so true, Zee. Sometimes it’s not always easy to accept as in when a parent isn’t capable of showing the love they feel as much as they should. But do have accept that that is all that they may be capable of and find the love we need elsewhere. Love and hugs, 🙂 ❤

What beautiful thoughts to share about love – it should be unconditional and obviously something that we cannot measure. That said, don’t settle. You are worth every bit that you get and more 🙂

“The day you learn to accept and be happy with whatever amount of love you get, is the day you will be freed.” That is an amazing insight, Zee! It is what love is about: giving from the heart without expecting anything in return. But thankful and appreciative for everthing it does get. We all are different and we all share our love differently. That does not mean that one loves less or more than another one. Wonderful inputs, Zee!

Awww, Zee! Another bittersweet post from you and I love it. It is so touching. It is true that each of us are capable of giving only love that we can give. Sometimes trust might get in the way of us giving love, or perhaps fear of what would happen if we choose to love someone, be it a friend, lover or someone we just met.

Love is often precious. Sacred. And something that is easily lost. So perhaps we really should make the most of it and be sure to enjoy it when it comes our way. Hope you are well and love you lots 🙂 ❤

You said it so well Mabel. I do think that a lot of time why we hold back in giving love is because we are afraid- We are afraid of how the other person might perceive it, we are afraid if we are putting our energies in the right place, if it will be worth it in the end. There is no right or wrong answer in this case. One just has to take a leap of faith and that’s what scares us.

Also everybody has a different way of showing love and we just have to accept that- it’s only fair to both you and the person 🙂

Thank you for sharing your thoughts with me, Love you loads ❤

First, those kittens are adorable ❤ and I absolutely love listening to the songs you post.I get to explore different genres. If I could count each time, how many people have drifted apart just because one expected too much i would have measured the depth of the ocean. But we are only human, and it is a human tendency to expect things from people we love.I think it's okay to expect according to how much the other person is capable of giving. But when we go beyond that, and expect a little too much we get disappointed if it is't fulfilled.
I love your choice of words in this post(Tumne dil ki baat keh di :D)

And you are so right, Expectations and disappointments are all pat of being human. It’s not easy to avoid them. But we can all learn from experience, now can’t we? 🙂

(Or dil ko dil say rah hoti hay, is liay menay tumharay dil ki baat keh de 😉 ❤ 😀 )

You know, lucky are the people who are actually able to accept the love people give them. Some people like me can’t even accept what is presented to them. They don’t think themselves capable of this love that other people give. I don’t know I’m weird or what. Love this cute photo.

That doesn’t make you weird dear Lala. It just makes you Human. I can understand all of us struggle with this phenomenon of love one way or the other, have different ways to deal with it. However, you should, in no way, think that you are not worthy or capable of the love that comes your way- You absolutely are. ❤

You have a beautiful soul ❤

Awe, love the pic:) Also, I’m really loving the song!! 😉
I understand what you are saying. I know we may love someone with an intense fire that burns day and night…. but they their love is very subdued and calm. It doesn’t mean they aren’t loving you with everything they have.
Everyone loves differently. However, always make sure the love your getting in return is what you feel to be “love” if that makes sense.
    go where you’re celebrated not just tolerated 🙂 ❤ ❤ ❤

Ooh that was very wise of you Carisa “go where you’re celebrated not just tolerated” nobody Could have said it better than this! 🙂
But you know in the world we are living today, which can be so fake, we can’t really tell if people do genuinely appreciate your presence in their lives or are they just merely tolerating you. Sad reality, isn’t it?

Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts with me Carisa, I’m glad you liked the song too! ❤

It is a very sad reality. When it comes to friends I know quality is the key not quantity. I can’t imagine anyone not loving you genuinely. Your heart glows across the oceans. You are loved all the way in little ole Oklahoma in the US 😉 ❤️

That is the cutest picture! As for the rest, yes! and no 🙂

I agree, often people are only capable of giving so much love for whatever reason. You can be hurt if you expect more. And it can be a bit unfair to expect more than they are capable of giving.

But then there is the part of me that is the Romantic. The part that wants to believe even when deep down I know it’s impossible. yes, the something can be better than nothing, but sometimes that something seems like one sip of water when we are dying of thirst. Sigh…. As I said, I’m a bit of a Romantic.

Actually, I think you stated it quite well! If we get any love, we need to be happy, and yet we should never settle for less than we deserve. Yes, to both parts of the equation. And you deserve a lot 🙂

I hope you are doing well Zee. It’s great to see you back here blogging again! And thanks for stopping by my (virtual) place!

I like the way you put it; “one sip of water when we are dying of thirst.” Oh I can totally understand what you mean Trent. For a romantic soul like you and me- who might not seem to be so, it’s the hardest to suppress the desire for “more”. But it doesn’t mean that we can’t do it, we can tame our hearts and just learn to accept whatever comes our way. Both less and more. It’s the only way we can keep ourselves from getting hurt, as you know sensitivity can prove to be a cruse sometimes as well 🙂

And Yes I’m doing much better Trent, Thanks ! It was a pleasure to drop by your virtual place, looking forward to reading more! ❤
